October 2009  - Funding allocated to three more environmental project

The Wairakei Environmental Mitigation Charitable Trust has announced that funding has been allocated to a further three environmental projects.

The Trust met last month and considered a number of environmental project applications and allocated a further $45,000 to three separate projects.

June 2009 - 2009 - 2010 funding round opens for Wairakei Environmental Mitigation Charitable Trust

The Wairakei Environmental Mitigation Charitable Trust has announced that the 2009 - 2010 funding round is open and applications for environmental mitigation projects need to be in by Friday 28th August 2009.

Application forms are available through the website or the secretary.

April 2009 – Craters of the Moon Trust completes viewing platform project with WEMCT funds

The Wairakei Environmental Mitigation Charitable Trust allocated funds in the 2007 – 2008 funding round to the Craters of the Moon Trust for the construction and installation of a new viewing platform at the No 2 crater.

Jan 2009 - More than $52,000 was approved for funding two projects in the 2008-2009 funding round.

The Wairakei Environmental Mitigation Charitable Trust has allocated more than $1.3 million in project funding since it was set up.

The latest funding round saw more than $52,000 approved for two projects.

A project to control Wilding pine at Orakei Korako Cave and Thermal Resort was successful in receiving funding from the latest WEMCT funding round along with a project to further the Tokaanu Recreation Reserve conservation and restoration.

Applications for the next round of funding will open in the third quarter of this year for environmental mitigation projects.
